Water Dance Jams

Welcome to Water Improvised Dance Workshops!

We are grateful to provide space for creative and free movement in the water of warm pools in La Finca Camino Nuevo (Friday and Saturday) and Local Hot Springs (Sunday).

Immerse yourself into a beautiful community of water family, movement explorers, dancers, and people who dive deep within themselves, have fun, evolve and learn.

The weekend includes workshops from your hosts, the Nosara Anfibia collective, as well as from invited professional dancers and therapists. Nosara Anfibia is celebrating our first anniversary with this event!

We will have aquatic movement workshops, land movement classes and a celebration party with music and fire.

No previous experience is needed, you don't even need to know how to swim. Come with an open mind and open heart, curiosity and a willingness to play!

What is Aquatic Dance?

It is free movement in the water that can be practiced alone or in groups (aquatic jam). However we can't even imagine how many ways to move in the water there are! And how healing and joyful it can be!

Benefits of the Water Dance:

1. Deep relaxation: Soaking in warm water relaxes muscles and reduces stress. The combination of dance and warm water provides a feeling of calm and well-being.

2. Low-impact exercise: Water dance is gentle on the joints, making it an ideal option for people of all ages. Water supports the weight of the body, which reduces the risk of injury.

3. Sensory stimulation: Warm water envelops the body, stimulating the senses and allowing greater body awareness during dance. This improves the mind-body connection.

4. Burning calories: Although it is gentle, water dance is an effective exercise that helps burn calories and improve cardiovascular endurance.

5. Creativity and personal expression: Improvisation in aquatic dance allows for personal expression and creativity. Fluid movements in the water are a way to release tension and emotions.

6. Socialization: Practicing aquatic dance in a group encourages socialization and camaraderie, which can contribute to greater satisfaction and general well-being.

7. Therapeutic benefits: For some people, water dancing in warm water can have therapeutic benefits, such as relieving chronic pain or improving mobility.

8. Connection with nature: Dancing in warm waters outdoors provides a unique connection with nature, particularly rich and stunning in Monteverde, Costa Rica.

10. Meditation in movement: Aquatic dance can be seen as a form of meditation in movement. Concentrating on the movements and sensation of the water can lead to meditative states that promote mental clarity and inner peace.

11. Energy renewal: Water is considered by many cultures as a purifying and revitalizing element. Dancing in warm waters can help renew spiritual energy and clear accumulated tensions.

12. Connection with the mystical: Some people find that warm water dancing allows them to connect with the mystical or sacred, creating a feeling of transcendence and unity with the universe.

13. Expression of personal essence: Improvised water dance can be seen as a way of expressing the inner essence and uniqueness of each individual, which can have significant spiritual value.

In summary, aquatic dancing in warm waters can offer physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual and mystical benefits.
